How runway is calculated

Runway = cash on hand ÷ net monthly burn. Net burn is monthly expenses minus monthly revenue.

When to start raising

A raise typically takes three to six months at seed and longer at Series A. Starting at 12 to 18 months of runway gives you room to negotiate; starting at six means raising from a position of weakness, and investors can tell.
